Bloom of Joy is Melbourne-based artist Julie Liu's most ambitious and expansive work to date — a breathtaking celebration of botanical abundance rendered in her signature heavily textured acrylic technique.

Across a sweeping 76 x 61cm canvas, dozens of individually sculpted flowers bloom in extraordinary detail: blush and mauve roses with spiralling petals, bold magenta dahlias, deep violet chrysanthemums, soft teal succulents, vivid orange sunflowers, and delicate white blossoms — all set against a luminous, colour-shifting background that moves from warm coral and gold through to cool aqua and lavender.

Every element is built up in thick, tactile layers of paint, giving the surface a sculptural, almost three-dimensional quality that photographs alone cannot fully capture. The texture shifts and catches the light throughout the day, making this a living artwork that rewards close looking.
